How To Use Video To Sell

Here’s one very effective use of video to sell online. The bar has been raised.

James Brausch Thinks I Hate Him

I’m not sure why James Brausch thinks I hate him.

I don’t.

I don’t even know him; how could I hate him?

I do know that other people express some resistance to his often outspoken and blunt blog posts. Perhaps I should not have included the statement in  my previous post (saying he "rubs some people the wrong way"), but that wasn’t a statement about my feelings for James. It was an observation.

"Rubbing people the wrong way" doesn’t put one in bad company. Jesus Christ rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. So did Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, and Kurt Vonnegut. Do I hate them? Nope.

Magic Salesletter Software

Some people are "rubbed the wrong way" by James Brausch. Be that as it may, I have been testing his copywriting software (and yes, I paid for it, he didn’t give it to me for free) and it seems to… uh… work.

He just released a new version of Muvar (his multivariate testing software). The old version sells for $100 at Muvar.com (do not buy from that URL — read on). For 24 hours you can get the new (2007) version of Muvar for $50. James has offered 24-hour specials in the past and he sticks to the deadline like barnacles stick to battleships.

Google: How To Start Your Online Business

I hear from so many people who feel overwhelmed by the complexity of starting an online business.

There are only a few simple things you need to get started making money with your own internet-based business.

It’s not complicated, really.

Let me break it down for you. I’ll tell you the basic items you need, and Google can tell you the rest (just search for information on the areas where your knowledge is weak or incomplete). Here’s what you need:

Email Marketing: Dead or Alive?

Many people say email marketing is dead. It’s easy to agree with this idea.

Spam and the spam filters it has given rise to make it harder than ever to get your email delivered.

It’s even hard to receive email we want. How many times have you been frustrated because a friend, co-worker, or relative was supposed to send you an email that never arrived… only to discover that email in your “junk mail” or “spam” folder?

Here’s the good news: the death of email marketing has been greatly exaggerated.

Discover Top Experts on Copywriting Principles

proof.jpgIf you’re just starting your library of copywriting books, there are four books that I recommend to get you rolling. Each of them is relatively short. The first two are easy reads and the second two are a little bit more difficult for modern readers to get through, but they are worth the effort. Here are my four recommended copywriting books:

Bob Bly’s ‘Copywriter’s Handbook’. This really is the gold standard that gives the best overall explanation of what copywriting is all about. It covers not only direct response copywriting which, is primarily what this blog is devoted to, but all sorts of copywriting. Whether it’s for radio, brochures, or even business cards I think you’ll really get a lot of value out of Bob’s book.

Free Photography Course for Marketers

Okay, this free course on digital photography is not only for marketers, but it is the best introduction to the subject I have seen anywhere. And you can’t beat the price. Not only will you learn about how to compose and create compelling photos for use in your marketing… you might even learn a thing or two about how to create a loyal following online. Heck, if you had a loyal following online, you might even be able to sell something to people. Hmmm…

Do Copywriting Templates Work?

There are a number of products available that offer copwyriting “templates” (which most take to mean “fill in the blanks”). Do these templates work? And are they a cost-effective alternative to hiring a copywriter (or becoming a better one)?

Don’t you already know the answer? Templates are not a substitute for good copywriting. However…

They are a great tool, if you keep three key points in mind.

Three Keys to Making Effective Use of Copywriting Templates

Short Sales Copy For Expensive Seminar

Fortin has cause a big stir with his report on “The Death of the Salesletter”. Get it. Read it. It’s not a come-on for something else, there’s no “squeeze page”, and no “hidden launch” of some other product.

I agree with most of what Michel has to say in that report.

Want to see some very short sales copy for a $1,250 seminar that is converting like crazy? Then take a look at this. It breaks all the so-called rules. But don’t try this on your own, kids. There are some very important reasons why this is working, and they are not all obvious.
