James Brausch Thinks I Hate Him

By Ray Edwards | April 17, 2007

I’m not sure why James Brausch thinks I hate him.

I don’t.

I don’t even know him; how could I hate him?

I do know that other people express some resistance to his often outspoken and blunt blog posts. Perhaps I should not have included the statement in  my previous post (saying he "rubs some people the wrong way"), but that wasn’t a statement about my feelings for James. It was an observation.

"Rubbing people the wrong way" doesn’t put one in bad company. Jesus Christ rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. So did Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, and Kurt Vonnegut. Do I hate them? Nope.

Far from hating James, I have bought a number of his products and have recommended them to many people.

Is this a case of mistaken identity? I think it may be. I have never - never - made a negative statement about James. Publicly or privately. I defy anyone to show where I have.

Now… there is more than one person named Ray Edwards. I am also not making any negative statements about any of them… but I am suggesting that perhaps James has me confused with someone else.

For the record: I dont hate you James. I’ve never said anything negative about you. We have friends in common who respect you, and based on their recommendation I bought some of your products. I like the products.

If "Ray Edwards" has ever said anything negative about you… it wasn’t this one.

As for the fan club, interested members please contact me and I’ll let you know when our next meeting is.

Don’t worry about it. He jumped to the same conclusion about me regarding a post that I actually praised him for being debt free in.
There is somethign about people who immediately jump on the defensive/offensive…or maybe it was a post by one of his “interns”???

James can be very defensive. He seems to enjoy taking shots at people who post things on their blog that appear to question any of his business philosophy. The funny thing is, many of them are just trying to offer some additional thoughts, and are clearly not confrontational. But he seems to interpret some of these peoples’ posts as some sort of “personal attack.” Ray, rest assured most people would NOT interpret your posts in the way James did. At times his behavior does surprise me. I think maybe he forgets that these spurts of aggression may turn off some of the people who actually buy from him (hence you are actually correct about the “rub the wrong way” mention). Even though I have bought from him several times, some of the slams he makes against well meaning bloggers does offend my sensibilities and makes me think a little harder about buying from him in the future. I am sure I’m not alone. In any case, Ray, you have a nice blog, and don’t let James’ sarcasm bother you in the least.

James is brilliant. Doesn’t mean he’s perfect. And yes, he can be brash, and come across as arrogant.

Additionally, it is often extremely frustrating to do business with him, the way he’s automated his business… the way he seems to assume that every person who requests a refund is a “problem” customer who is then put on a “blocked buyer” list… the way you can’t get legitimate customer service when you DO have a problem which is outside the templated answers of SuFaq (his excellent customer service software)….

Still, it’s his business — and he has the right to run it the way he wants to.

Personally, I can still learn from James… both the things that work, and also the things that I believe he doesn’t do so well (and test whether changing them improves my results).

Wow, I thought it was me. James is a brilliant scientist who knows a heck of a lot about business. Just don’t ask harmless straight forward questions for clarification purposes about anything he does related to business because you’re done:)

To the fire you will go.

It is his business though.

God bless him

Go for it James!

Nice post, Tom.

I agree with James conceptually about automation (in fact, my business is highly automated).

However, his implementation leaves some things to be desired.

First, as you noted, he assumes that someone who asks for a refund for one product is a liability. He’s wrong about that. By way of example, I purchased one of James’ earlier products, which frankly, I was not happy with in the least. I never got around to asking for a refund because I was extremely busy (making money) at the time. Now, had I asked for a refund (for a product I disliked and never utilized) James would no doubt have blocked me from future purchases. Subsequently, though, I ended up purchasing again from James. Just think, he would have cut off a perfectly viable customer!

To further the point, let’s assume you buy something from K-Mart and you take it back because it doesn’t fit, or whatever. Clearly, over the course of your normal lifetime, you will likely go back to K-Mart and buy again and again. Would it not be shortsighted if they were to block you at the door for returning one item that didn’t suit you? Well, that’s the path James has chosen.

A second interesting point is James’ choice to turn off blog comments, and force people who want to connect with him to put up posts on their own blog to do so. Kind of like communicating via roadside billboards, in a way! (Personally, I think the main reason he did so was to get free inbound links.) Now, lots of internet businesses sell consumer products and services, and it would be inappropriate to utilize those sites and blogs to send James comments. So James is loosing connectivity with some (probably sizeable) portion of his buyers this way. Of course, he might rationalize it by saying there was a lot of off-topic banter showing up on his blog, but for all practical purposes he has chosen to isolate himself. On the other hand, perhaps the free inbound link strategy and traffic boost has compensated for it to his liking. He’s not getting rank from strictly “on page” factors, that’s for sure.

His idea of using “interns” (people working for free) to do his work has some downside. Any astute person can clearly tell when someone else has written copy using his byline. Further, people come to his blog to hear his views. It seems a bit of a turnoff to think that you might be reading filler articles written by interns. Then it becomes just a game. (”I wonder if James even wrote this.”) By the way, instead of working for James for free, I would recommend people simply motivate themselves to put up their own site and learn by doing. You can learn and earn at the same time.

James has created his own universe, and that’s fine if he’s happy with it. It is his business. But since he is proclaiming and selling his expertise in public, he should expect and be comfortable with others commenting about it.

One final thought about automation. It’s entirely wise to automate as many of your internal business processes as possible. But be careful with automation points which touch your customers directly. People like dealing with people, and not machines, and profitable long term customer relationships are hard to maintain when the face you present is basically just a virtual vending machine with one way communication.

I honestly think that after years of crystal meth abuse that this guy is dillusional(a well known fact by the way).
Also the word arrogant springs to mind,if he was giving away free vacations with himself in disneyland I think I’d rather stay home and feed the dog.
No I don’t hate him but I certainly don’t like him either.
He has no manners to speak of and is so far up his own arse it’s unreal. The only crap I got from him was ‘I’m a success’
in my mind success relates to a whole lot more than a few dollars in the bank,James…try humility and compassion too,I think you’ll find that they are part of the equation that defines success.

James’ controversial blog posts are the only reason he has any attention any more. Anyone that has given him a signifigant amount of money in the past won’t touch him with a ten-foot pole. Look for someone, anyone that has “partnered” with him in the past. None are anywhere near him. He’s never honored a refund request for his $10,000 training - even from those who requested refunds before getting the training. So he’s successful - because he’s dishonest. And all those students, along with himself, had their sites banned by Google (along with Yahoo and MSN), so everyone that got his training is left with next to nothing.

Feel free to examine his posts for usable information. The guy is clearly brilliant. But he suffers from the same mental disorder that so many meth addicts do - Borderline Personality Disorder. Eventually, everyone near him becomes “evil” in his mind; once they show they’re human. It’s incurable, so it’s best just to walk away from the guy.

I’ve always believed that you can get an idea what is going on inside a person by observing how they treat other people.
Let’s just say that I am grateful that I do not live inside James Brausch’s skin.

If you ever need to find James . . . just follow the
“trail of dead” (figuratively speaking).

James Brausch is the single most dishonest, impolite, arrogant individual I have ever encountered… in any walk of life. And I’m not just saying that: I really mean it.

He claims he is or was a minister of the church. If that’s true, then there is either something wrong in the way the church allows anyone in, or there is something wrong in their belief system.

This guy has taken money off so many people, and tries to cover his tracks in so many ways, it’s unbelievable. I’m surprised some of the top guys in the IM even associate with him anymore.

He has taken my brother’s money and, by calling me a fraud, has not only refused the return the money and pay my commission, but he seems to be refusing to send my brother the product he paid for.

His assistant, Debbie (I’m assuming she’s his assistant) only replied to my first email to call me a fraud. Numerous emails afterwards have been completely ignored.

He seems to believe that he can criticize anyone he wants to but he himself is above criticism.

Ray, he is a complete and outright fraud and I wouldn’t give him the time of day, let alone worry about what he says about you.

I think we all know the type of decent guy you are, so it doesn’t surprise me that he doesn’t appreciate the comments of someone who is honest.

I also made the big mistake of buying some “products” from James Brausch. Hugely disappointing. Most of his homemade (whipped out in minutes, probably) “products” are not worth the outrageous prices HIS ego thinks they are. I would NEVER suggest anybody buy stuff from James Brausch. There IS way better material out there. Just check the review sites and read the reviews.

If you have a problem with anything you buy from him, just TRY contacting him. The only way I could find is to send an email to paypal@jamesbrausch.com and if you are lucky, someone MIGHT get back to you, but probably not James Brausch.

Why do people even buy from this guy after reading all the condescending posts he puts on his blog? The very same people he is trashing seem to be buying from him. That’s just crazy. I guess it’s the same kind of mindset that makes some people go back to an abusive spouse. I for one am not going to give my money to someone I find insulting and mean spirited.

I think people will soon get tired of James Brausch and his ego. There are much better teachers and resources out there for those who need them.

For those who have had a bad experience dealing with James Brausch:

Ran across an interesting site detailing some very unhappy dealings with Mr. Brausch:

http://www.jamesbrauschreview.com

For anyone who has had a bad experience with James Brausch, you may want to get in touch with this person (or do what he did, which is contact the Better Business Bureau, State Attorney General (Utah), FTC, U.S. Postal Service, etc. for assistance).

Also, there is a site on the internet called “Rip Off Report” (www.ripoffreport.com) which you can utilize to make a complaint about Mr. Brausch). If you have had a bad experience, you should most certainly submit it to this site.

Needless to say, I won’t be sending any money to James Brausch after reading all this. Hope others are doing their homework first.

I could just copy and paste many of the comments above. Same experience, same opinion. I’ve received nothing but silence, or insults, from him. I agree, he is the single most arrogant, condescending and fundamentally deceived person I’ve ever met. Of course, don’t you know, the very fact that any states this about him, just PROVES to him that you are part of the 98% LOSER FAILURE crowd. That’s why he will never wake up from his pride induced stupor. http://www.brentriggsblog.com

Here is yet another very detailed experience involving James D. Brausch that is well worth reading. Very illuminating:

http://www.cybercashology.com/?p=232

From all this, I would say the takeaway is that being a great marketer or salesman does not make you a complete person. Or someone to be automatically looked up to. When all is said and done, the only thing that will really matter at the end of our lives will have been the relationships we’ve nurtured over the years. Money can never replace the people around us.

He is also a blog spammer who has an international staff to post comments about him on a variety of business blogs. He’s been attacking my blog for months and now that I’ve spoken up about him, more people have spoken up to say he is doing this to them.

The comments often go like this:

“This reminds of [insert marketer name]…”
“I just read something at [insert marketer name]’s blog…”

They always say how my posts remind me of something he said or he did, yada yada yada. Sometimes they post a link and sometimes they don’t.

I’ve posted to James’ blog to ask him to stop (of course my comment was moderated so he can protect HIMSELF from spam), but haven’t heard back yet.

I agree.

I purchased a product from him, expecting everything to go smoothly.

Never got any kind of confirmation saying my order went through or when I would receive the product.

There’s NO WAY to contact anyone to ask about it, at least not easily without searching for some sort of contact information.

I never got a response when I simply asked for some sort of order confirmation.

Also never got the product. Ended up having to go through a pain in the ass process to get my money back.

How that makes ME a fraud I have no clue. All I wanted to do was order a product and actually receive it.

I’ll never trust that guy again, and suggest no one else does either. He’ll take your money and waste your time.

I bought his product for create a product.

It explains how to use overture to take some kind of information. But overture was sold more than one year ago. I try to use the information he explained, but was useless because the website did not exist. I did not found similar webs.

I told him that the video should be updated but no answer was received.

And his books? They are a reprint of his blogs. He did not rewrite nothing except the last page, where it explains again (and again all over the book) where to bought his products.

I think it is not a polite way to treat people.

Ditto to all of the above. Beware of Brausch/Norte - the man is a rip-off. If you have a problem (like never delivered newsletters that cost $300 upfront) and ask about them he doesn’t reply.

Then, when you take it up with PayPal he accuses you of fraud and threatens to cut you off for life. This man is a despicable fraud who hypocritically moralizes ad nauseum on his website all while running one of the biggest unethical internet scams around.

Be warned and beware!

This is an urgent CALL TO ACTION relating to James Brausch/Diego Norte.

As some of you know, James Brausch is traveling throughout South America right now. He may be operating out of Nicaragua at this time. (He is still a U.S. citizen however, with a last known residence in Utah.) He has been using the name “Diego Norte” to conduct business.

Alice Seba previously mentioned his massive comment spam tactics, which appear to be a major continuing issue with many forums. In addition, there are the fake job ads which show up on Craig’s List in order to recruit unsuspecting spammers.

The well-known “TechCrunch” technology forum has been receiving a lot of “Diego Norte” spams and just posted an article about it. In response, there have been a huge number of nasty comments posted on their blog, bogus “complaints” have been posted on complaint forums about the author, etc. In other words, it sure looks like retaliation.

Please weigh in on that forum and if they feel compelled, post supporting comments there favoring TechCrunch’s right to not be spammed. This will help balance the nasty attacks they are receiving for speaking out in the first place.

At the least, please read their article and position, and study the followup comments. It is very unsettling:
