Learning is one of my life long passions.
My name is Jeff, and I'm an info junky.
The first step to dealing with it is to acknowledge it.

Ray,

Your words of wisdom here are SO important.

The most precious commodity we humans have is TIME, and we have just 2 choices: (1) spend our minutes and hours productively making use of the knowledge we ALREADY have, or (2) fritter them away amassing more knowledge we simply won't ever have the time to use!

(Although, having said that, we do also need to learn a certain number of new things to stay current.)

And the more info we pile up, the more choices we have, and the less we are able to decide which path to go down.

I studied psychology many years ago, and they taught us that one reason why people go mad is because they have too many choices: info overload.

So what happens when we constantly increase our number of choices?

More and more confusion and, if we're not careful, madness.

As Ray says, stop piling up new knowledge, and start using the knowledge you already have.

This is the only way to move forward and not be in the same place a year (or 5 years) from now.

As the Nike slogan says, "Just do it."

Great blog!

Cheers

Eldo

Hey, I'm like many in this "niche" - I love to read the new stuff, watch the new videos, and play with the new software. But...

The one difference that will make you pull out in front of the "pack" is if you actually DO something with all that stuff.

Here's a neat little question to ask yourself: add up all the money you've spent on Internet Marketing and "business opportunity" stuff over the least year. For me, it totals over $20,000.

What if you (I) had taken that $20,000 and spent it instead on Adwords advertising to build a list?

It costs me an average of 11 cents to get a subscriber to my ezine through Adwords. So that means, if I had spent all that money on Adword instead of "courses", etc...

I would have a list of 181,000 subscribers.

Think about that.

I know I've been thinking about it a lot since Howie Schwartz asked me that same question this past weekend.

I don't know about you, but if I had a list of 181,000 subscribers, there would be no other challenges I couldn't easily overcome.

And what would it take for me to achieve the above list size?

Nothing that I don't already know how to do.

All I need to do is...

Just get started.

Okay. I gotta get back to work...

What do you mean? How else can I avoid trying and failing other than to waste more and more time reading really cool marketing materials? Do you really expect me to believe it's a simple as "just getting started"?

Seriously, I'm so glad I came across your website. You truly are out there in the trenches and understand what is going on. Thanks!

Hey Ray, reading that, I think for a second time by you really hits home. When a big name in internet marketing states something so down to earth and f.r.e.e. its like a breath of fresh air. So often we budding entrepreneurs are like hungry fish gobbling every little bit of information, useless or otherwise, in and never stopping to digest and utilise what we've bought. I take this post as a message from my wiser self to DO IT NOW! Glad I found such a wise soul! Cheers Lise, Melbourne, Australia :^)

Cecil,

Mike Litman has a saying I like: "Don't get it perfect, just get it started."

Ray I really appreciate your`horse sense`and feel guilty that I`m not moving forward in spite of the good advice that you give.My problem , I need to know all about a subject before I take that first step into action,i.e.,I don`t want to fail, [feel foolish].

As more and more of our personal "bandwidth" gets eaten up by all the "options" available to us...we're going to need more discipline to stay focused and on-task.

Thanks Tammy - and the Seminar has been very informative and useful.

Yes, I'm raising my hand saying I spend more time making myself stay on task than I do actually BEING on task. I'm getting better though - a bit each day. Great advice Ray and Enjoy the Seminar!
