Direct Response Web 2.0 Free Wordpress Theme

By Ray Edwards | July 11, 2007

Quite a few readers have commented on the beautiful theme I’m using for this site.

It’s a Wordpress Theme created by my friend Cory Miller.

I have collaborated with Cory Miller on a release of this Theme that you can use — and it’s yours free for the downloading.

The Theme is called Direct Response Web 2.0.

Direct Response Web 2.0 Key features:

  • Web 2.0 look
  • Widget ready
  • Two columns

Demo this theme here — http://themes.wordpress.net/testrun/?wptheme=4354
Download this theme here — http://corymiller.com/?dl=8

Use it on your site freely; all we ask is that you leave the attributions intact (at the bottom), and that the theme not be used on sites that feature porn, gambling, or other nasty stuff.

Please report all theme-related problems here, including site links and browsers where problems may exist.

Why is gambling nasty? If you don’t want back links from gambling websites just say so. You don’t have to call it nasty.

Nice theme btw.

Rob

I appreciate the feedback. In retrospect, I suppose I could have just asked that there be no backlinks from those sites and left it at that.

Thanks for sharing a different viewpoint.

Thanks for letting us download the theme. It is *very* clean and un-bloggish… I love the color blue.

I think I might use for a client’s site soon :)

Ray, Thanks so much for offering the WordPress theme. It is a nice clean theme. (Your designer did a great job!)

Although the “busy” sites may appeal to the younger generation, I much prefer being able to focus on the content and not distracted by too much ’stuff’.

Thanks again!
I look forward to meeting you in August at the
Family Business Conference!

Hi Ray,

Wow! This is a beautiful site. I spent about 5 hours poring over Wordpress themes yesterday, trying to find a really nice, Web 2.0, widget-ready theme, that was free of fluff, and relatively easy to customize (you know, add my banner, change colors, that kind of basic stuff). You’d think it wouldn’t be that hard, but geez! Lot’s of stuff that’s pretty to look at, but not much that fit the bill of what I needed!

And today, an email from you leading here! I swear, sometimes the universe works in mysterious ways…

The timing is PERFECT because I’m about to launch my new site, called The Copy Cub, and this is DEFINITELY the missing link.

I’ll keep posting about my experience getting it installed and customized, and I’ll alert you to any bugs.

Thanks again, Ray! You’ll be hearing more from me — probably later today.

Best Regards,
David Jacoby
(soon to be “a.k.a. ‘The Copy Cub’”)

Great-looking website. But, looks like the header image may be really difficult to customize because of the image extending into the nav menu.

Hey there Ray,

Just an update on my progress with the theme. We’ve been slammed with client work for the last few days, so I haven’t gotten it completely customized yet, but so far so good! My masthead for The Copy Cub is pretty much done, then we just need to play around with colors and so forth.

I know everyone is saying this, but I gotta tell you, the look of this is just so clean - it makes it a real pleasure to hang out on the blog, which of course is the most important thing - providing a great EXPERIENCE for your visitors.

One thing I’m really interested in is using Wordpress as the main platform for a site that also operates as an eCommerce site. Do you have plans to either incorporate or attach a site that sells products?

Thanks - more later, when The Copy Cub goes live!

David

Hi Ray..
I love to copy you …this is awesome. I agree that this is a clean and unfussy look with the essential message a real stand out! I will definitely be using this theme. I was also searching for something unique …and you and Cory have given it to me. Now I just need to find the “techie” to help me personalize this…anyone out there want to help?

I like the design Ray.

And, by the way, if you feel gambling’s nasty; then it’s your right to say so. Just as, if someone else thinks it’s not, then it’s their right to say it’s not.

I agree with you, gambling is nasty and it can destroy lives. I’ve seen it happen.

Ray,

Absolutely love the theme. Love it so much I immediately made it the new theme of my “Possess Less Exist More” blog on http://www.carlonhaas.com.

Thanks again, Ray.

Ray,

Finally got around to loading the theme on my main blog. Not sure why I waited so long, since it wasn’t that hard to do. Took less than two minutes.

Wow it really looks great! Almost as great as yours. :)

I just need to tweak it a little to make it my own.

I’ve searched and searched for a great web 2.0 theme that is clean and readable and finally found this one. It’s superb. You can it at http://www.webvideobytes.com

Ray,

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your theme. I have searched high and low for a great web2.0 template and all the others I found weren’t what I was looking for.
I have downloaded your template and will use this on my blog within the next week. Will need some time to configure it all as I have to do up the sidebar new.

Thank you
Monika :-)

It’s funny how things work out sometimes. I just installed Wordpress 3 days ago. I can’t believe the timing of finding this download. Thanks.

For anyone that is just starting out with wordpress like I am, I’ll share a few things.

The free open source blog Wordpress software can be downloaded at http://wordpress.org/download/ .

Print out the installation instructions and follow them. Follow them one step at a time and should install fine onto your server.

For a great lesson on installing and managing themes visit http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes .

Here’s the best free theme download site that I found. http://www.wpthemesfree.com/
